Tracy Small

Hello My Name Is...

Tracy Small

I am honored to be serving Chapel Hill Elementary School as one of your School Counselors (K-2nd). My goal is to provide a safe and warm environment for the students. I believe in viewing a child as a whole person. My belief is a student is more than the sum of their parts; beyond labels, handicaps, or disabilities. I'm here to guide the students towards the best path for their academic, social and emotional well-being.

As a therapist over 10 years prior to the school system and former teacher, I am dedicated to student success and academic achievement, as well as understanding the importance of developing relationships for student success. BA Major: Psychology Minor: Sociology, MA in Psychology (Clinical Track/Organizational Development), Ed.S. in SPED with Leadership Endorsement, and Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). Four years in the classroom and eleven years as a School Counselor, I am blessed to be starting my 16th year in the Douglas County School System. I believe every student is capable of success.

Sometimes being outside is so good for your emotional state, which can affect your ability to learn. *If the weather is safe outside and you are with your safe adult*, here is an Outdoor Scavenger Hunt that will get your creative mind in action. If the aforementioned is not an option, below is and Indoor Scavenger Hunt

For continued Social/Emotional Development and learning fun, see the below Activity Choice Board. Remember, TRY FOR 3 IN A ROW EACH DAY!  It will help you increase: Self Management, Social Awareness, Responsible Decision-Making, Relationship Skills, and Self-Awareness.
