Doris Strickland

Hello My Name Is Doris  Strickland

Doris

Chapel Hill Elementary is a wonderful school and I feel privileged to teach here. This is my 26th year of teaching and my 12th year as a Chapel Hill Cheetah.
My first career was in marketing, but my love of children made becoming a teacher a natural choice for me. I have a business degree from West Georgia University and a teaching degree from Kennesaw State University. I also have a  masters of education degree from Kennesaw State University.
My first year I was a teacher and curriculum specialist for Head Start. The experience I gained there was invaluable. In 2005, I became employed with the Douglas County Board of Education and  taught both first and second grades at Annette Winn Elementary. During my six years there I acted as a math resource teacher for the county for one year. It was a wonderful experience. I moved to Factory Shoals Elementary to be closer to home and taught fifth grade for one year and then second grade for five years. I taught one year of third grade at Holly Springs Elementary before having the opportunity to teach at Chapel Hill Elementary. I have taught third grade, second grade and now I am in my fifth year of kindergarten at CHES. Every grade level is special, but introducing "big school" and instilling a love of learning into my kindergarten students have been the best years of my career.
My grandparents moved to Douglas County in 1937, so my roots run deep in this county. I started school at Annette Winn Elementary and am a proud graduate of Lithia Springs High School.  My husband and I have raised three children in this county. My two older children graduated from Lithia Springs High School and my youngest son graduated from Douglas County High School.  We are very proud of all three of our children.
My husband and I enjoy camping in our travel trailer. My favorite thing to do is read and I am blessed to have a career that lets me share this love with others.

You may contact me through email at [email protected] or call my classroom. The phone number is 770-651-3677. I check my DOJO messages frequently, so that is a good place to leave a message and I will respond as soon as possible. I will frequently send out classroom reminders through DOJO and parents can monitor their child's daily behavior through DOJO. I look forward to a wonderful school year.
